Our Story
Since 2021, The Phoenix Dance Academy has transformed into more than just a place to dance. We started as a small community of dancers and have grown into a family built on passion, resilience, creativity, and connection. We’ve watched tiny dancers take their very first steps in the studio and seniors take their final bow before heading into the next chapter of life. We’ve celebrated national titles, personal victories, standing ovations, and moments that mattered far beyond the stage. But the most important thing we’ve built is found in the confidence dancers discover within themselves. The friendships formed backstage. The lessons learned through hard work and teamwork. The feeling of belonging the moment someone walks through our doors.
Over time, our programs have grown, our vision has expanded, and our community has continued to evolve, while still holding onto the values that matter most: passion, encouragement, family, and love for the art of dance. Today, TPDA is home to dancers of all ages and experience levels, from first-time preschool students to competitive performers chasing big dreams. And while so much has changed over the years, one thing has remained the same: This has always been a place where dancers are encouraged to rise, grow, and become who they were meant to be.
A Legacy of Excellence
TPDA is the proud home of the award-winning Synergy Cloggers, which has earned over 20 national titles and television recognition over the years. Synergy has been featured on TLC’s Down South Dance and continues to be a dominant force in competitive clogging and contemporary dance.
Throughout its history, Synergy has been led by a series of talented and passionate owners and directors. Their shared commitment to building confident, skilled dancers lives on today through our staff, students, and families.
Our Mission
At TPDA, our mission is to offer high-quality dance education in a supportive, encouraging, and family-friendly atmosphere. We believe dance teaches more than steps. It instills discipline, builds self-esteem, and creates lasting friendships.

Meet the Owner: Katelynn Bearden
Since 2021, The Phoenix Dance Academy has been owned and directed by Katelynn Bearden, a current Synergy dancer and long-time member of the dance community. Katelynn is passionate about preserving the legacy of clogging while creating new opportunities for today’s dancers.
